Something is fishy in Cranberry.
The township will host a new educational fishing event for children ages 5 through 12 on Saturday, April 6 at the one-acre lake in Graham Park.
After months of construction, the lake opened for the first time last fall.
Experienced volunteers will supervise the April 6 event and also will help teach basic fishing skills, along with these fishing rules from the township.
- The fishing lake is strictly recreational, catch-and-release only. Any fish caught will be immediately returned to the water.
- No trophy fishing, food fishing, or fish cleaning is allowed.
- ?No one can have more than two fishing lines in the water at once. ?
- No type of fishing would harm the pond's bass and bluegill is permitted. ?
- No live bait other than earthworms is allowed.
- ?Barb-less hooks or hooks that have had their barbs blunted are strongly recommended.
Two 75-minute fishing sessions will be held the morning of April 6, with the first beginning at 8 a.m. and another starting at 9:45 a.m.
Those participating in the event will need to bring their own fishing gear. No fishing license is required.
