BOISE, Idaho ? Idaho officials say an episode of domestic violence takes place somewhere in Idaho once every 88 minutes.
Idaho Council on Domestic Violence and Victim Assistance Director Luann Dettman says 22 victims died in domestic attacks in 2011. The council also reported more than 5,700 cases of domestic violence in 2011 involving spouses, former spouses or those in dating relationships.
Dettman told lawmakers last week that Idaho's rate of occurrence for domestic violence based only on the number of reported calls.
The Spokesman-Review reports the state councils is funded almost entirely each year by a $3.6 million federal grant. The council worked with more than 21,600 victims in Idaho last year.
