How do you and your SO handle holidays in terms of visiting family? Do you anticipate that changing when you have kids? If you already have kids, did it change?
My family has always done Christmas Eve together and now that my brother and I are both married i am trying to get my family to rotate houses every year, both my parents and brother have Cats that I am deathly allergic too and it isn't fair I have to spend the night drugged to high heaven to celebrate with them. Christmas Eve probably won't change once there are kids!
Christmas Day we get together with Hs family, usually driving an hour to his sisters and they originally wanted us to be there super early to watch her kids open gifts. I put my foot down after the first year because I know when we have kids I will want them to have Christmas morning with us first before we travel anywhere. So I have said we will not be anywhere Christmas Morning until after 11am. His family doesn't entirely seem to understand why because his parent lug their gifts to each other up to his sisters house every year so everyone can watch them open them and H wanted to do that too and I said I don't get it, why can't we just tell them what we gave each other. He seems okay with that and it is nice to stay in jammies and open gifts before rushing around.
