The second annual Play 4 Pets concert will take the stage this weekend to raise money for the Edmonton Humane Society.
Musicians from Edmonton Music Studios will be playing for five hours straight from noon to 5 p.m. at the Expressionz Caf? on Saturday in hopes of raising $10,000 for homeless and abused animals.
For an avid animal lover like Edmonton Music Studio owner Stephanie Nhan, who volunteered with the local Human Society back in her hometown of Regina, the concert gives her the chance to help her favourite furry friends.
?It?s dangerous for me to go volunteer there because I will always come back with one,? says Nhan.
?I love animals so much but I can?t have one because of allergies so I decided to give back to them in a different way. ?
The event doubles as both a fundraiser and as a great way to have her students showcase their musical talents on stage in front of a live audience.
?It?s also a great way to get my students a chance to perform, so it?s a win-win for us,? says Nhan.
?Everything from classical to contemporary to pop music?it?s pretty cute to see the little five-year-olds get up on stage and play for their 10 seconds and then they?re done and really excited about it,? says Nhan.
Last year?s inaugural event raised just over $4,000 for the Humane Society. Currently, up to 40 students are out hitting the streets gaining pledges from friends and family to hopefully hit their goal.
So far they have raised just over $1,300, but the official number won?t be known until the day of the event.
You too can help out by visiting the Expressionz Caf? on Saturday and partaking in a live auction with all proceeds going to the Humane Society.
