Poetry in Motion blends genres | l ? l Bajan Sun Entertainment

The family friendly and charitable Poetry in Motion will have its ninth annual staging at the Manchester Golf Club, Mandeville, on Sunday, starting at 6 p.m. The event presents the full spectrum of the performing arts, with music, dance, comedy, storytelling, fashion and poetry.

The focus is on top-flight edutainment ? clean, intelligent fun ? for the entire family. It has consistently attracted people from all across Jamaica on the last Sunday of February.

This year, as Jamaica celebrates its 50th anniversary of Independence, Poetry in Motion is on the official list of events. This year?s line-up is headed by the legendary Toots & The Maytals. Other performers are Mutabaruka, Michael Abrahams, Marjorie Whylie, Joan Andrea Hutchinson, Professor Rupert Lewis, Amina Blackwood-Meeks, Charmaine Gooden Monteith, Fuzion, Kevin O?Brian Chang, Ann-Marie Wilmot, Reggie?s African Link, Tanhoi, Capoeira Jamaica and Poetry in Motion?s founder and conceptualiser, Yasus Afari.

As it was last year, this year the event supports two charities, Candle in the Dark and Jamaica Poetry Foundation.
